FDA Disclaimer

FDA labeling for the approved HCG drug products requires the following statement about the use of HCG for weight loss:

“HCG has not been demonstrated to be effective adjunctive therapy in the treatment of obesity. There is no substantial evidence that it increases weight loss beyond that resulting from caloric restriction, that it causes a more attractive or ‘normal’ distribution of fat, or that it decreases the hunger and discomfort associated with calorie-restricted diets.”

The HCG Diet

The HCG Diet

For those that do not know about the HCG diet here it is in plain English. The HCG diet was created by Dr. Simeons while in Africa. He observed thin African women who ate very little give birth to normal and healthy babies, Dr. Simeons theorized that the HCG that is produced by pregnant women provided a means to keep the babies nourished while still in the womb.

hCG Myths

hcg diet myths

New Diet Option

The Human Chorionic Gonadotropin diet, or the hCG diet, is said by recent media attention to be a new diet option for those who want dramatic weight-loss. However, the hCG diet was first discovered in the 1950s when Dr. A.T.W. Simeons published his finding of the combined results of hCG with a low-calorie diet. He found that when obese dieters took low doses of hCG with a strict calorie diet, the dieter experienced dramatic weight-loss in key trouble spots, like the upper arms, stomach, thighs, and buttocks, without the reduction in muscle tone.

The diet is now revamped by recent media attention because of the common scams and pitfalls that dieters are undergoing with fraudulent over-the-counter (OTC) forms of the hormone. Because these forms have little to no trace of the actual hormone in them, they are FDA banned.

Works Like Magic

The hCG diet is sometimes marketed that it’s easy to follow and works like magic with guarantee results. However, the diet requires determination and dedication from the dieter. Those who sell it might advertise that it’s easy to follow, but the dieter must undergo a strict low-calorie diet over a certain number of days (usually 40 days) while taking the hormone.

Furthermore, the diet is meant to be used as a component with exercise and a healthy lifestyle for people to lose weight – not to be used on its own as a magical fat fixer. Because the dieter chooses how well he or she will follow the diet instructions, results can vary. For instance, if a dieter eats sugar during the maintenance phase of the injection diet, then he or she is expected to have low results from the diet. So, the results are not guaranteed and are completely based on the dieter’s ability to follow the diet instructions.

Benefits Last Forever

The hCG diet’s result are often popularized as lasting forever. For instance, if a dieter loses 50 pounds from the diet, then he or she can expect to keep the weight off even after the diet. However, the benefits last only as long as the dieter is willing to maintain exercise and a healthy lifestyle. Sometimes dieters volunteer to undergo several 40 day treatments of the injection process, but eventually the body will reject the benefits of the hormone. The overall diet design functions to guide the dieter to make permanent, healthy lifestyle choices as a way to keep the weight off.

FDA Approved

While all forms of hCG are believed to be FDA approved for weight-loss, OTC and homeopathic supplements are FDA banned as unsafe for dieters to use as a weight-loss treatment.

The pharmaceutical injection form is FDA approved as a treatment for infertility issues. However, it is both legal and commonly prescribed “off-label” as a weight-loss aid. The FDA has not approved the injectable hormone strictly as a weight-loss drug because there hasn’t been consistent data to their standards on its positive effect. But, many doctors and patients testify to its positive benefits and continue to use it as a component with exercise and a healthy lifestyle as a way to manage weight-loss. Hopefully this helped to clear up any hCG myths!

Phase 2 HCG Tips

hcg diet phase 2

Phase 2 is the portion of the HCG diet where you begin to use the 500 calories strategy. (Phase 1 is a 2 day binge of whatever fatty foods you want). Though HCG is meant to help you reduce your cravings, some people still experience them because medicine always impacts people differently. If you’re experiencing cravings, don’t worry! This phase doesn’t have to be hard if you follow simple tips.

Variety is your friend

Plan ahead so you can create lots of fresh, tasty, interesting meals. An HCG diet recipe book can be exceptionally helpful. These books provide dozens of ideas while offering accuracy—you won’t have to guess whether or not you are eating the right number of calories. All of the recipes will be from your list of approved foods. Shop ahead of time, when you’re not hungry. Use lots of spices for taste—nobody likes eating bland, boring food. Chicken is a totally different dish with tarragon than it is with paprika.

Chew Gum

Find a stevia-sweetened chewing gum (not aspartame). Use it when you are experiencing cravings or hunger. Stevia is an all-natural sweetener that adds zero calories. The act of chewing and stimulating your taste buds can be all that you need to push away a pesky hunger pang. Combine chewing gum with some other activity to distract yourself and you’ll soon find that you’ve forgotten your craving.

Drink Water

Often we experience hunger pangs when we are dehydrated. Drink water first, just to be sure. Hydration is a powerful weight loss tool in its own right.

Brush Your Teeth

Brush your teeth after every meal. This will reduce your desire to eat more. Everyone knows toothpaste makes everything you taste yucky! This can also be a signal to your body that eating time has passed. Make it into a ritual, forming a powerful habit for your body will train it to react in helpful ways, shutting down cravings.

Pause Vitamins and Supplements

Taking vitamins and supplements can actually stall your weight loss success while on Phase 2 of the HCG diet. Instead, focus on getting your nutrition from high-quality healthy, organic, non-processed foods. Remember, HCG actually helps you get more nutrition from foods than you normally get. That is, if you eat an apple you get more nutrients out of that apple with HCG than you get by eating the apple alone. This is why HCG is such an effective appetite suppressant—it helps your body get what it needs on less.

Reach for Support

If you’re struggling it’s important to know that you don’t have to do this alone. Find other people who are using the HCG diet. There are lots of forums where you can connect with others who understand and appreciate your journey. They may be able to talk you through your emotional struggle, or they may be able to provide you with some tips and tricks that have worked for them. They will also encourage you to stay the course! You’ll soon be enjoying the rapid weight loss of the HCG diet.

Who is Dr. ATW Simeons?

Who is Dr. ATW Simeons?

dr atw simeons

Dr. ATW Simeons is the creator of the HCG diet. He was a British doctor who devoted himself to finding a cure for obesity.

Simeons discovered the HCG method by studying women in third world countries. Women who worked out in the fields on low-calorie subsistence diets were still delivering normal babies at normal weights. This piqued his curiosity a great deal. He eventually discovered HCG, the hormone in pregnant women’s urine, was somehow responsible for the seeming paradox.

The HCG in the women’s bodies were helping those babies maximize the nutrition they were getting from each bite of the food that was passing into their mother’s body. The end result was that less food was required to sustain the baby’s life. He reasoned that if adults were able to take advantage of HCG they, too, would need less food to live a healthy life and maintain a normal body weight.

This is, by the way, why the HCG diet is safe for both men and women. A baby can be of either sex and so an HCG treatment affects either one the same way. HCG serves the baby during pregnancy, not the mother, which is an important distinction to make. It will not cause men to develop any symptoms which might make them seem more feminine.

Simeons went on to discover that small doses of HCG would release abnormal fat stores in the body. Stubborn pockets of fat would be burned as fuel and released at last. Simeons combined this with a low-calorie, high-nutrient diet to create a method which comfortably releases weight at a very rapid pace. Patients who are extremely obese sometimes do have to go back for multiple treatments to reach their goal weight.

The diet happens in 3 phases. Phase 1 is a short phase. In this phase you eat as much as you want, taking in as many high-calorie foods at the same time. Phase 2 restricts your diet to 500 healthy calories. You take the injections during both of those phases. In Phase 3 the injections stop. You revert to a healthy but more expansive maintenance diet.

Multiple treatments are required to ensure that your body does not become HCG resistant. That is why Phase 3 of the diet creates a new body “set point” for whatever weight you achieved during Phase 2. It creates a new launch point for your next HCG treatment until you get all the way to goal weight.

HCG does have a few side effects, including headaches and, in extreme cases, blood clots. You do have to get a prescription for HCG before using it.

Simeon eventually wrote his findings into a book called Pounds and Inches. Like any weight loss method, Simeon’s ideas were considered controversial when the book was published, just as they are today. However, the results of many happy HCG injection patients do speak for themselves. If nothing you’ve been trying is working it might serve you well to reach out to Dr. ATW Simeon’s life-changing wisdom.

How to Order HCG Injections

How to Order HCG Injections

order hcg injections

HCG injections offer an amazing way to lose weight fast. However, ordering it isn’t as easy as making a Google search. There are a lot of pitfalls for anyone who wants to order HCG, and it’s a bad idea to simply go with the first flashy website you come across. Here’s a guide to purchasing HCG injections safely and effectively.

You Need a Prescription

In the United States you do need a prescription for HCG injections. This can be a challenge. HCG injections are usually offered for women’s fertility issues, not for weight loss. Though doctors are becoming aware of the benefits of HCG injections for weight loss it’s a slow process, and not everyone is sold on it. You may have to visit several doctors before you find one who will work with you.

Most reputable, domestic HCG companies will require you to provide proof of a prescription before they will ship the product if you want to order it online. Most people do opt to order online for the convenience and privacy online ordering affords.

Make Sure the Online Pharmacy is Reputable

When it comes to HCG injection websites, it’s a jungle out there. There are dozens of scammers. There are overseas websites, which can be iffy because personal importation of pharmaceuticals is not legal and because there are no standards for the quality or safety of the drug you will receive. One customer reported waiting over a month for a pharmacy escrow company (always, always foreign) to receive what amounted to a case of sugar water. There are scam websites that work primarily with “rogue pharmacies.” It’s almost impossible to tell one from another by looking.

What you can do is look exclusively for a domestic HCG injection website make sure they either are an approved pharmacy or have an on staff medical doctor, like About HCG Injections does. All prescriptions are filled by us and there is never a worry about the quality of the product since it is compounded right here in the United States.

Don’t Be Seduced by a Low Price

A whole case of HCG injections for $20? Wow! Yet be cautious. These low prices are often low because the injections are low quality, fraudulent, or don’t contain any HCG at all.

This is your life, your weight loss journey, and your health. It’s worth it to pay more to get real results you’re looking for. Counterfeit HCG can be incredibly dangerous to your health, especially when combined with the 500 calorie diet.

Make Sure You’re Ordering the Right Stuff

There are two types of HCG injections—pharmaceutical HCG and homeopathic HCG. Homeopathic HCG does not require a prescription but it’s also not effective. It usually contains little or no actual HCG. Pharmaceutical HCG is the only HCG that will actually produce the results that you are looking for safely and effectively.

When you take the time to do your homework HCG injections can offer dramatic results, even when nothing else seems to work.

Should I Use HCG to Lose Weight?

Should I Use HCG to Lose Weight?

hcg to lose weight

Deciding whether or not to use HCG to lose weight is a highly personal decision. No blogger can tell you what’s right for you. However, you can get the information you need to make an informed decision.

What HCG is

HCG is short for human chorionic gonadotropin, a hormone found in the urine of pregnant women. It is usually used to treat infertility. However, in the 50s British scientist Dr. ATW Simeons discovered that HCG, when administered in very small doses, could suppress the appetite and prompt the hypothalamus to begin actively using the body’s fat stores, especially when combined with a low-calorie, organic foods diet. He also found HCG could offer positive changes in cholesterol, blood pressure, and blood sugar.

The HCG diet actually comes in 3 phases. Phase 1 prompts you to eat as much as you want from all of the fatty, bad foods that you’d enjoyed before. Phase 2 puts you on a strict 500 calorie diet in which only specified, organic, healthy foods are allowed. Phase 3 is a maintenance phase with fewer restrictions. The third phase helps you keep the weight off. If you’re still not at your goal weight by the third phase you can take a second or third HCG treatment.

What’s the right way to take HCG?

There is only one safe, effective type of HCG: pharmaceutical injections. Homeopathic injections and HCG drops contain little or no HCG. Indeed, it’s illegal for companies to claim that homeopathic HCG injections or drops actually do anything at all to help you lose weight.

Can’t I Just Use the Low Calorie Diet?

Many critics of HCG injections believe you could get the same results by simply eating less. There are a few problems with this, however. Usually eating such a low calorie diet kicks your body into starvation mode. This causes the body to actually hold on to the excess weight rather than releasing it! In addition, the problem that many people face with weight loss is the body is not accurately accessing those fat stores to begin with. Finally, the HCG acts as a powerful appetite suppressant so you’re not uncomfortable as you try to lose weight. It does this by actually increasing your ability to absorb more nutrients from each bite of food that you put into your mouth, which means that you require less food to stay healthy.

How Much Can I Expect to Lose?

Typical results are 0.5 to 1 pound per day, but every person is different. As you know, all medications do not affect people the same way. HCG works the same for men or for women.

Can I Exercise While Taking HCG?

Walking 20 to 30 minutes per day is recommended. More vigorous exercise is not, since you may grow fatigued quickly on the 500 calorie per day diet.

How can I get a prescription?

Your best bet is About HCG Injections, all clients are screened via medical questionnaire by a licensed physician and you can visit a diet clinic if you would prefer to see a doctor in person but the costs can be several hundred dollars just for the visit. Usually you’ll have better luck finding doctors who are open to HCG injections in clinics than you would with traditional health providers. The benefits of HCG are not always recognized by the mainstream medical community.

Phase 3 HCG Tips

Phase 3 HCG Tips

hcg diet tips

Phase 3 is the “stabilization” phase of the HCG diet. In this phase you’re going to avoid all pre-packaged, processed foods. Anything “white” is generally problematic on this phase: white flour, white rice, white sugar, potatoes, and white pasta should all be avoided. This is also the phase of the diet where you would want to start incorporating more exercise. You don’t want to go too out of control, but if you take your walking up to 30-45 minutes every day you will start really seeing the benefits.

There are no caloric restrictions during phase 3, and you don’t take injections during this phase. It should be easy after taking injections and restricting yourself to 500 calories on phase 2! However, the challenge is to avoid “going crazy.” Now is not the time to throw moderation out the window.

Watch the Dairy

You can have some dairy on Phase 3, but be careful. Dairy products often contain sugar, especially if they are “low fat.” It’s better to get high-fat dairy products and use them in moderation. Read labels so that you know what you’re getting and use organic dairy products wherever and whenever possible. It’s better to use dairy as a garnish than as a central meal item.

Practice Portion Control

Even though there are no caloric restrictions on phase 3 it is still important to use sane portion control. Portion control doesn’t have to be inconvenient. To make it easy, use small plates. Then divide those plates into three distinct parts. The large section of the plate goes to your protein. The smaller portion of the plate goes to your fruits and your vegetables. Eat slowly and don’t get seconds. If you found it easier to work within caloric guidelines you can now use an online tool to find your caloric “maintenance” level for your height, weight, gender and current weight.

Keep Weighing Yourself

Weigh yourself each morning after emptying your bladder. Your weight should not fluctuate more than 2 pounds during Phase 3. The point of Phase 3 is to create a new “set point” for your body. Our bodies create these “set points.” If your “set point” is 195 pounds, for example, your body will adjust its metabolism as much as possible to keep you at 195 pounds. If your set point is 150 pounds it will do the same thing. Therefore you have to complete Phase 3 if you want to keep off the weight that you’ve just taken off with your HCG injections and diet.

If your weight does fluctuate by more than 2 pounds just have a “steak day.” Don’t eat anything other than a large steak with a big tomato for the whole day. You can substitute an apple for the tomato if you prefer to do so.

Stay the course!

Nobody ever said that weight loss was fun. The HCG diet may be effective but, like any diet, it comes with challenges. When you feel yourself faltering just remember the rewards!
